(Baby) It's You [Poster and Film]

Out of the blue, I decided to make a little promo poster for a project I was lucky enough to be a part of a few summers ago. If you're involved in the stop motion community, you've probably already seen this video.

This is the music video that I had the opportunity to animate shots on with my teachers, Brad Pattullo and Jeremy Galante! Directed by David Cowles.

Passive Aggressive (An Abstract Claymation)

So I don't normally animate in just clay... and I wanted to try doing a ball bounce...

One thing led to another and here I was just doing whatever I felt like doing at that moment... I compiled more shots and put together this short abstract, emotionally based film I call "Passive Aggressive."

Held in, when released… an idea changes through perception and generally we can build our ideas together. When we die, our ideas will still be here.

One Hour Paintings

Last Thursday, I wanted to try something different...
So, I went back to my roots and painted some impressionism!

This was about an hour and a halves worth of work.

Then it hit me... maybe I could try to give myself a challenge and do timed paintings for a week!

I really enjoyed doing this, so I may continue to keep painting... we'll see!

I actually did TWO paintings this day of the same spot. The first was really early, about 6 AM.

Around 2 PM, I decided to do another one… it was lightly drizzling… so i figured, “why not.” But, I only got 15 minutes in before the downpour hit me though.

I noticed it dried and thought it was cool how the rain altered the painting.

All of these were one hour sessions only, aside from the rained on painting (which was 15 minutes) and this very last one.

The last was only 43 minutes because I got off work late… and it got really dark outside!

I could not see anymore!

Setting up Stop Motion Studio Space

 I just recently bought a Canon EOS T2i Rebel, so I could start animating in stop motion again!

I'm slowly building up the equipment I would need to produce professional quality stop motion from home!

I decided to break in my new camera with a quick test lip sync with an older puppet I built over the summer... you might remember him! ;)

I rushed into this, but it's been awhile anyway... so I'm a tad rusty!

I'm just glad I can produce more content now! :)

More Outlaw Art

 I was trying to sketch in marker more. Watercolor/Marker.

This is another concept piece for my outlaw project. Considering the main character is an outlaw, he faces challenges against ordinary townspeople as well, This shot is suppose to be a part of a sequence where they are trying to jump the outlaw at the bar, while he is enjoying a drink.

I did something different with this process so far as well… I actually started it out digitally, but my computer kept overheating… so I actually printed out the line art with a pretty low opacity, and inked it traditionally (the characters at least…). I then scanned it back into the computer, and finished it back in Photoshop…

Animating on my Smartphone with the app Clayframes

Hey guys! I haven’t animated any stop motion stuff for awhile, mainly because I do not own a DSLR Camera… but because I did eventually end up getting a smart phone, I realized that I could probably find a way to animate on it, and I did…

I found an app in the Google Play store called ClayFrames.

I decided to give it a test run with one of my old crow puppets. I’m not doing anything too fancy yet, just testing the waters… 

I duct taped my phone to this shoe box.

This is a test head turn I animated on my Samsung Galaxy SIII, with the help of the app., ClayFrames.

This is rough, because I don’t have the best way to mount my phone yet (using duct tape as you can see)… and you can’t really scrub through the stills in the app… but for now, I think I could get use to this! Especially, since I don’t own a DSLR right now…

Welcome to the Gun Show

I ripped my pants a few weeks ago… and I decided to make them cutoffs. No one thought I could pull it off.

I did.

With the extra scraps, I cut them up. Then I began to paint. This is the progression of a piece I made.
